  • What are some popular terrains for 4-WD tours?

Riders will experience a variety of mountain terrain with tours that emphasize scenery and mining history. From 100-year-old mining roads and steep alpine summits to box canyon switchbacks, these routes were made for fun off-road exploration in the San Juan Mountains. And, unlike typical desert country tours, Telluride Outside's 4-WD excursions don't focus on arduous "rock crawling" or difficult technical maneuvering.
  • What vehicles do they use for the tour?

Telluride Outside is the only tour operator in the area that runs new model vehicles instead of converted SUVs, older model Jeeps or 30-year-old European military vehicles. Instead, their tours are offered in newer model Chevy trucks that are customized for safety, comfort and excellent sight lines. Their open cabs allow easy conversation between riders and guides. Removable canopies and clear plastic windows provide an open air experience or welcome shelter during inclement weather conditions.
