Telluride overview
Established as a gold mining town after gold was first discovered in 1858, the town of Telluride was founded in 1878. The town was named after the chemical element tellurium, which was never actually found in the mountains of Telluride. Telluride began slowly because of its isolated location, until in 1890 when the railroad reached town, which brought in more mines and brought out more ore.

While skiing through the powdery mountains in Telluride, or hiking through the luscious ambiance of nature, don’t leave anyone out. Besides, who will have more fun traipsing through the trees than your best little friend? At Mountain Lodge at Telluride, we encourage you to bring your pets with you. Avoid leaving them in those uncomfortable and expensive kenneling facilities, and rest assured knowing they’re enjoying the vacation as much as you are. There is a non-refundable $50.00 pet fee per day up to a maximum of $150.00.
