With more than 18 events planned between May and October, including the Bluegrass Festival, the Jazz Festival, and the internationally recognized Telluride Film Festival, the historic ski resort transforms into a summer mecca for special events. Visitors and locals have the chance celebrate everything including music, beer, yoga, art, and food as Telluride's festivals and events continue to inspire the loyal fans who make the annual journey to the beautiful box canyon. 
Some festivals last up to 4 days, some run only 2 days. Because Telluride sits at 8,750 ft above sea level, the sun is very strong and sunscreen is vital as is staying hydrated.
There is no outside alcohol permitted into most Telluride festivals, alcohol can purchased inside the actual festival. Most festivals provide many food venues and ample "outhouses".

Mountainfilm Festival May 28 - June 6, 2021

Held every Memorial Day weekend, Mountainfilm is a documentary film festival that showcases nonfiction stories about environmental, cultural, climbing, political and social justice issues that matter. Along with exceptional documentaries, the festival goes beyond the film medium by bringing together world-class athletes, change makers and visionary artists for a multi-dimensional celebration of indomitable spirit. Mountainfilm, which includes interactive talks, free community events, a gallery walk, outdoor programming and presentations, aims to inspire audiences to action on worthy causes.

May 28-31 takes place in Telluride, with a virtual component May 31-June 6, 2021.
Telluride Balloon Festival

Telluride Balloon Festival June 4-6, 2021

On Saturday and Sunday, watch balloons lift off from Telluride Town Park and float effortlessly over the Telluride Valley. After a beautiful day in the sun, head to Main Street on Saturday evening to witness the amazing Balloon Glow. Balloons are tethered to Main Street (weather dependent) and lit up during this spectacular display.


Telluride Bluegrass Festival June 11-13 & 17-20, 2021

Every Summer Solstice, 11,000+ Festivarians converge on the historic mining town in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern CO (elevation 8,750') for 4 days of adventurous acoustic music in the stunning Telluride box canyon. Since its early years, the unique genre of "Telluride Bluegrass" has embraced a diverse family of artists including Sam Bush, Robert Plant, Mumford & Sons, Brandi Carlile, Norah Jones, Jason Mraz, Greensky Bluegrass, Emmylou Harris, and many of the world's most virtuosic acoustic instrumentalists - many of whom have returned to the festival for 25+ years. With music on the main stage, intimate workshop performances at Elks Park, late-night indoor NightGrass concerts, and pickin' in campgrounds and condos ‘til dawn, Telluride Bluegrass is the "granddaddy of the modern festival circuit" (Relix).

Yoga Festival

Telluride Yoga Festival – June 24-27, 2021

The Telluride Yoga Festival is a unique and special gathering unlike any other. This inspirational 4-day event features over 100 offerings including yoga, meditation, music, hiking, dining, SUP yoga, social gatherings and more. Telluride Plein Air Festival

Telluride Plein Air Festival - June 28 - July 4, 2021

Each summer, over the Fourth of July weekend, the Sheridan Arts Foundation hosts 20-25 nationally renowned plein air artists in beautiful Telluride, Colorado for a week of outdoor art. The Telluride Plein Air Festival has become an indispensable part of Telluride's Independence Day festivities, allowing locals and tourists alike to observe some of the nation's top plein air artists at work. The festival culminates in a three-day sale, where the artists display the work they have created all week long.

Since 1991, the Sheridan Arts Foundation has raised more than $40,000 each year to bring 40-50 underserved youth from Boys & Girls Clubs from around the country to Telluride for a week of nurturing, child-centered mentorship programs and fascinating cultural experiences as a part of the Chip Allen Mentorship Program (C.A.M.P). Children travel from cities across the United States, including Atlanta, Boston, Denver, Farmington N.M., Dallas/Ft. Worth, and Colorado Springs. Here in Telluride, we enjoy many privileges, and Wild West Fest is a chance to share our community with kids who can really benefit from what it has to offer. This is our chance to open our town and our hearts to kids in need. The goal of the Sheridan Arts Foundation every year is to provide an esteem-building experience for each child that allows them to challenge themselves in a supportive and non-competitive environment.

Telluride Blues & Brews

Telluride Blues & Brews – September 17-19, 2021

Renowned as one of the most scenic and intimate music festivals in the country, Telluride Blues & Brews Festival is located in the world-famous mountain town of Telluride, Colorado. The multi-stage celebration of music and craft beer offers an eclectic mix of live blues, funk, indie, rock, jam-band, gospel and soul performances accompanied by some of the best craft breweries in the country. The Festival also features kids activities (climbing wall, bounce houses, bungee trampolines, and parades), cozy late night club shows, a 5k fundraiser race, free morning yoga sessions, local and regional food and craft vendors and so much more. Set at the beginning of the golden fall season, Telluride boasts a number of unique outdoor activities, including hiking, mountain biking and a free gondola between the Town of Telluride and Mountain Village.

Original Thinkers

Original Thinkers – September 30- October 3, 2021

This festival has yet to announce their plans for 2020 in light of COVID-19.  Original Thinkers is a highly curated festival that melds speakers, films, and performance into a powerful four day experience in Telluride, Colorado. Founded by David Holbrooke, this unforgettable weekend in the mountains will convene creators, innovators and doers to connect on a range of topics. Offering its audience a unique perspective on some of the crucial issues of our time, Original Thinkers engages people on how to have a real and tangible impact. Our community of Original Thinkers assemble in Telluride and leave at the end of the weekend, changed and charged to make a real difference.
Telluride Horror Festival

Telluride Horror Festival – October 15-17, 2021

The Telluride Horror Show, Colorado's first and longest-running horror film festival, returns for its 10th edition. Every year, the festival attracts the latest & best genre films from around the world and attendees from all over the country for an incredible gathering of film fans in the world-famous mountain resort town of Telluride, Colorado. For three packed days, experience an eclectic mix of horror, suspense, thriller, dark fantasy, sci-fi and dark comedy in Telluride's unique theaters, with many of the films showing for the first time in the US.
The festival line-up offers over 20 feature films, more than 60 short films, special programs, guests, and events. If you love genre films, then you can't miss this fest.
